Q: How much will I have to pay?
A: The subscription fee for FOXTEL viewers to continue to receive the Ovation Channel is $119.00 (which is approximately $9.95 per month). This is a one-off annual payment.

Q: Can I pay my subscription monthly?
A: Yes, if you are paying by credit card or direct debit.
 
Q: How do I find my smart card number?
A: The smart card is about the same size and shape as a credit card and sits inside the FOXTEL Box. The identification number is also stored on your FOXTEL system, so you can access the information through the menus as follows:
  • FOXTEL
    • Press the 'Active' button on your FOXTEL remote (it is towards the top of the remote near the ‘TV Guide' and 'Planner' buttons).
    • A menu of options will open up
    • Select option 1 – System Setup
    • Select option 4 – System Settings
    • Select option 3 – System Details
    • A page of information should open up with your smart card number displayed
    • Once you have noted down your smart card number, press the 'Back' button on the remote to exit the menu
  • FOXTEL IQ & IQ2
    • Press the 'Active' button on your Foxtel remote (it is towards the top of the remote near the ‘TV Guide' and 'Planner' buttons).
    • A menu of options will open up
    • Select option 1 – System Setup
    • Select option 4 - Advanced Settings
    • Select option 3 - System Details
    • A page of information should open up with your smart card number displayed
    • Once you have noted down your smart card number, press the 'Back' button on the remote to exit the menu
 
ABOUT THE OVATION CHANNEL
 
Q: Where do I find the monthly schedule?
A: There are a number of ways to access the schedule
  • On the EPG daily. Using your FOXTEL remote control, click the TV GUIDE button for all listings. Ovation is found in the ENTERTAINMENT section. This is the most accurate and up-to-date listing.
  • On the Ovation website. www.ovationchannel.com.au Click on the SCHEDULE menu and download the PDF for this month’s listings.
  • A monthly guide will be emailed to all subscribers who have provided their email address a week before the beginning of a new month.
  • The Ovation guide is printed in the TV Guide in The Australian on Saturdays.
  • On the AUSTAR website http://tvguide.austar.com.au/ and http://www.austar.com.au/tv/whats-on/ovation-channel.aspx
  • On the Your TV website http://www.yourtv.com.au/guide/ You must select your choice of channel through the Guide Setup button and select Optus as your subscription TV service.
 
Q: Ovation is a “stand alone channel”. What does this mean?
A: Because Ovation is no longer included in your regular FOXTEL or AUSTAR package, it has become what is known as a “stand alone channel”. This is to say, the Ovation Channel is not tied to any other FOXTEL or AUSTAR package.
 
Q: What added extras are available as part of my subscription?
A: Because of our new mode of operation, particularly with charging a new subscription fee, we understand that we need to provide more value for your hard-earned dollar. The Ovation Channel will offer you from time to time:

Q: Will the Ovation Channel still be the same?
A: Yes, but it will be even better! We aim to make the Ovation experience even more enjoyable by showing all of your favourite shows and performers, but including more new programs from around the world.
 
Q: I've been told that the new Stvdio channel on FOXTEL is the same as Ovation or that Stvdio channel is just Ovation with a new name. Is this true?
A: No. Stvdio channel, delivered by SBS, is completely separate and independent of Ovation. It commenced broadcast on channel 132 from 1st April 2010, and it has been reported that its content is aimed at a younger demographic.
 
Q: Why is Ovation no longer available on existing FOXTEL & AUSTAR packages?
A: FOXTEL decided to replace Ovation with a new SBS owned arts channel. This change also applies to AUSTAR subscribers. FOXTEL have claimed to want to create a new channel which is “more relevant” and “targeted to a younger audience”. To do this they required the channel space that Ovation occupied. The Ovation Channel is an independently run and owned company, separate to FOXTEL. The original decision to cancel Ovation from the FOXTEL broadcast was not one that the team at Ovation had any input into. However, because of the passion for the channel we wanted to find a way to continue to provide the channel to our loyal viewers. After reviewing many options the only solution was to offer the Ovation Channel, as a new “stand alone” channel for a small fee.
 
Q: Is this an attempt from FOXTEL or the Ovation Channel to get more money out of me?
A: Not at all. The Ovation Channel is a completely separate company from FOXTEL. However, FOXTEL controls the channels included in their broadcast. The Ovation Channel had to purchase a new, stand-alone broadcast licence from FOXTEL to allow us to continue broadcasting. For us to remain on the air we need to charge a nominal subscription fee to cover the licence costs that FOXTEL charges us.
